Environmentally Responsible & Eco Friendly Printer, CRW Graphics Gets Even Greener with GreenWorks

Green printing company, CRW Graphics, has been steadily building its reputation in the region as an environmentally-sensitive printer. And now CRW is a recognized recipient of the GreenWorks Environmental Recognition Award, a special green initiative developed by Agfa Graphics.

"CRW has always been an environmentally responsible company. Our continuous improvement program, practiced throughout our operation, has allowed us to identify and implement work flows that consume fewer resources, minimize waste, and enhance quality," says Mark Weiss, president, CRW Graphics. "Credit for earning the GreenWorks Environmental Recognition Award from Agfa belongs to the entire CRW Team, including our customers, who have worked effectively with us to reduce our impact on the environment."

Agfa, one of the world's leading imaging and information technology companies, has bestowed the GreenWorks designation upon CRW Graphics as it is a leader in environmental responsibility in this region.

The following are among the installations, implementations and policy changes at CRW Graphics that led to the company's current status as an environmental leader:

• Installing new presses that use fewer sheets for make ready
• Recycling all trimmed paper, waste sheets, waste ink and aluminum printing plates
• Recycling CRT monitors and replacing them with more energy-efficient flat screen monitors
• Repurposing the exhaust from a new digital press to help heat the plant in winter
• Changing the materials used in the printing process (The bases of most lithographic ink are now made from linseed oil, a natural and renewable resource; all toxic chemicals have been eliminated in the prepress and plating process.)
• Installation of chemistry-free printing plates
• Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification
